Biogen Idec in Hillerød

Biogen Idec's site in Hillerød hosts five major buildings: the Label and Packaging building, Laboratory for Quality Control testing, Administration building, Canteen-Conference Center, and the Large Scale Manufacturing building.

Label & Pack Facility

In 2007, the packaging facility was moved The Netherlands to Denmark. The drug packaging process is quite complex and is therefore regulated by the European and Danish health authorities. The process is comprised of a number of key steps, such as packing the material itself, issuing and labeling the external packages, and adding packet inserts containing critical medical information to patients and doctors. Labels and packet inserts are issued in many different languages and this requires great precision when packing medicine to the many markets around the world.

Quality Lab

The laboratories, responsible for quality control of our drug products, moved to Denmark from the Netherlands along with the packaging functions. The laboratories comply with international Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and therefore conducts a series of ongoing analysis and tests that are performed and controlled in accordance to the current requirements from the health authorities.
